One of the main concerns customers have when they call in is that they don’t know what size tent they need. If this is you, don’t worry, there is a straightforward way to figure this out! It all depends on the type of event you are having. What are your guests doing underneath the tent? Are they having dinner? If they are, and they are eating at round tables, you’re going to need about 150 square feet per 10 guests.

So, let’s do an example. Say you are having an event with 250 guests, it is 250, multiplied by 15 square feet. That’s about 3,750 square feet just for the tables and chairs. If you divide that by 50 (which is a standard width option), you get 75. A starting off point just for the seated aspect of your event is a 50×75.

However, you might have other factors like buffet tables, a dance floor, a stage, or more that you would like covered! A good rule of thumb is to allow about 100 square feet for each buffet table, and around 400 square feet for a small dance floor and stage.

After doing the math, let’s say you arrive at the conclusion your tent needs to be 4,500 square feet. This means that the smallest size tent you could get is a 50 x 90. To give yourself a safety net, you could go for a 60 x 80. Does the venue have enough space to accommodate a tent this size?

Obviously, these are just approximations, and sizing will vary from event to event, but this formula is a good estimation of how much room under your tent you will need.
