TENTING EQUIPMENT IS GOOD FOR ALL
Tenting installation and removal is very laborious in nature. Our goal is always efficiency without compromising safety. Since Made in the Shade installs highly engineered structures up to 100,000 square feet, we pay close attention to occupational and operational safety. Both play key roles in the success of our crew and their productivity every day. When choosing tenting equipment, we look to our partners within the industry for advice. We also look at what technologies are being developed that take pressure off the human body. This can be a huge benefit for the crew and their ability to perform during their shift. The work doesn’t just disappear when technology or machines replace the human effort. These machines do not run themselves. Through training and education we can operate our tools to their maximum potential.
INVESTMENTS TO PROMOTE SAFETY
Our operational challenges that have become the most prevalent has been transporting and placing concrete blocks, lifting heavy beams into place, and pulling large vinyl tops into the frame of structure. While researching tenting equipment, we were directed to two pieces that could potentially address our challenges and some we weren’t even thinking of. The tenting equipment our partners were using and having success with came from TentOX and BR Innovations.
From TentOX we invested in 4 of their TentOX loading machines. The TentOX is a modified loader from Avant. and it has become a formidable beast within our operation handling difficult tasks with ease. The TentOX can lift materials like a forklift but it is very agile like a loader or bobcat.
From BR Innovations we invested in their concrete block forms to produce our own concrete ballasting blocks and the mover carts that move and place the blocks. Each of these products have reshaped our operation, adding strength into areas that are necessary to be efficient and to compete at a level far above our regional friendly competitors.
The embedded video depicts a typical scenario where placing blocks, an arduous process in itself, has evolved into an efficient and orchestrated process of snatch, move, and drop.
